Vilu House Reef

The house reef is perfect for a dive or two, with sheltered entry points depending on the current. Explore caves filled with glass fish, spot moray eels, shrimps, nudibranchs, and scorpion fish, and enjoy the bustling marine life along the wall. Night dives might reveal a sleeping blacktip shark or even an octopus. Advanced divers can explore deeper overhangs, and with some luck, dolphins may pass by. Alika Reef

Located north of Sun Aqua Iruveli, Alika Reef offers classic Maldivian diving with drifting currents, ideal for all levels. Swim among schools of fusiliers and snappers, and keep an eye out for turtles, moray eels, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, and octopus. The reef's diverse marine life and coral formations create a lively and colorful experience for divers.

Stephen Thila

Rich in hard and soft coral, Stephan Thila is a paradise for photographers and videographers, especially at depths of 7-15 meters. The site teems with life, including shrimps, sea stars, angelfish, butterflyfish, and large barracuda up to 1.5 meters. At 28 meters, a cave near a sandy bridge shelters bigeyes and sweetlips, while grey reef sharks patrol the east side.

Udhdhoo Reef

This steep reef near Udhdhoo features three small thilas between 15-25 meters, ideal for photographers. White sandy patches allow close views of anemone colonies, home to Clark's anemonefish of all sizes. Deeper areas may surprise you with stingrays or guitar sharks, and diving with Nitrox provides more time to explore the depths.

VelavaruThila

Situated in a wide channel near Velavaru island, this bulky thila starts at 8 meters and features sandy slopes, coral blocks, and stony corals. Expect to encounter gobies, blennies, garden eels, sharks, tunas, turtles, Napoleon wrasses, and large schools of reef fish. Staghorn and table corals brighten the overhangs, adding to the reef's vibrant scenery.

Velavaru Kandu

North of Velavaru island, this channel dive offers a relaxed drift along the reef, suitable for all levels. The site features small overhangs where divers can spot moray eels, shrimps, scorpionfish, and possibly even lobsters. Schools of fusiliers, snappers, and tunas are frequently seen, and the occasional white tip reef shark may also make an appearance. It’s a great dive to explore the secrets of the Maldivian underwater world.

Kermitt Corner

Located at the northern corner south of Kannely Fara, this site is perfect for shark enthusiasts when currents are medium to strong. The hard coral formations stretch from the corner to a thila inside the channel, creating a habitat for napoleon wrasses, white tip reef sharks, and eagle rays. Schooling jackfish, fusiliers, and emperors swirl close to the reef, making this dive site vibrant and thrilling. With the right conditions, it promises an impressive underwater spectacle.

Thibisa Far Garden

This outside reef and corner dive is teeming with marine life, offering something for every diver. Expect to see schools of snappers, trevallies, jacks, fusiliers, and patrolling white tip reef sharks. Divers may also encounter stingrays, turtles, scorpionfish, and even leaf fish hiding in the reef. A friendly group of batfish often appears, adding to the excitement. The longer boat ride is well worth the incredible diversity found here.

Wella Giri

Wella Giri features a classic Maldivian giri structure, with a sandy hill on the southern side and steep reefs to the north. The coral-covered slopes host a variety of fish, including snappers, fusiliers, and different types of moray eels. Glassfish shimmer near coral blocks, while lionfish, scorpionfish, and stonefish lie in wait for prey. Baby sharks can be spotted searching for food in the sandy areas, adding an extra layer of adventure to the dive.

Dhara Wall

On the northeastern side of Dharaboodhoo island, Dhara Wall provides a stunning drift dive experience. The wall is adorned with coral life, and large gorgonians stand out against the backdrop. Divers can find small overhangs with hidden creatures like nudibranchs, shrimps, and scorpionfish, and may encounter turtles or resting napoleon wrasses. The untouched quality of the site gives it a pristine feel, and the possibility of spotting passing tunas or eagle rays adds to the allure.

Velavau Tongue

Velavaru Tongue extends from the reef into the channel, creating an ideal playground for marine life. Divers can expect to see white tip reef sharks, eagle rays, tunas, and resting stingrays in the sandy areas. The large coral formations attract a variety of fish, including fusiliers, snappers, jacks, and sweetlips. The currents here can be challenging, but experienced dive guides ensure a safe and enjoyable dive.

Napoleon Reef

Just opposite Vilu Reef, this site offers a relaxing drift dive along a steep slope. Small caves and coral formations make great hiding spots for nudibranchs, shrimps, and other camouflage experts. A juvenile napoleon wrasse often patrols the shallow areas, and divers should keep an eye out for surprises in the open water. It’s an excellent dive for both beginners and experienced divers looking for a laid-back underwater experience.

Extasy Deep

Situated near Vilu Reef, this site plunges into the deep blue of the Indian Ocean, offering a true sense of immersion. Divers might hear and see dolphins passing by, and white tip reef sharks, turtles, and triggerfish are common sights. For the adventurous, specific spots on the reef reveal even more marine life, making each dive here unique and exhilarating. The dramatic drop-off is especially captivating.

Meedhoo Out

Located northeast of Meedhoo island, this dive site features a sloping reef with coral blocks that shelter moray eels, leaf fish, and scorpionfish. Colorful anemones host not only clownfish but also porcelain crabs and other shrimps. White tip reef sharks often patrol the deeper sections, while eagle rays and napoleon wrasses are frequently spotted. The dive concludes with large hard corals and table corals, making the safety stop a visually rewarding end.

Magoodhoo Reef

South of North Nilandhoo Atoll, Magoodhoo Reef offers a gently sloping reef ideal for drift diving. At 25 meters, a sandy plateau provides a resting spot for white tip reef sharks and stingrays, with coral blocks scattered throughout. An additional small thila is just a few fin kicks away, inviting advanced divers to explore its depths. This site can surprise divers with unexpected marine encounters, making it a must-visit.

Loricanto Terrace

One channel south of Kermitt Corner, Loricanto Terrace offers a fascinating dive experience. Outgoing currents bring abundant fish life to the channel, while incoming currents attract large tunas, trevallies, and white tip reef sharks. The corner area is bustling with life, including friendly napoleons, snappers, and mackerels. Divers can explore a thila covered in hard corals, home to groupers, parrotfish, and garden eels, making this a perfect site for drift dive enthusiasts.

Octopus Lover

Located just outside Vilu Reef, Octopus Lover provides a delightful drift dive on a typical Maldivian outside reef. The site is famous for its masters of camouflage, with chances to spot devil scorpionfish and various eels, including the beautiful white mouth moray. Other highlights include encounters with turtles and white tip reef sharks. The dive’s relaxed pace allows divers to thoroughly explore the reef's vibrant marine life.

Lhohi Caves

Lhohi Caves boasts one of the most breathtaking underwater landscapes, featuring large overhangs and swim-throughs. The walls are adorned with fan coral and sponges, creating a vivid backdrop. The site comes alive at night, making it ideal for night diving. Photographers will find ample opportunities to capture not only the fascinating marine life but also the mesmerizing play of light within the caves.

Bandidhoo Giri

Bandidhoo Giri is a colorful and compact dive site, bursting with corals and sponges in vibrant hues. Divers can explore small overhangs and admire the reef’s intricate coral life. The site is a paradise for photographers, with countless opportunities to spot macro marine life. It offers a peaceful yet visually stunning underwater experience that’s perfect for all diving levels.

Bodu Thila

Bodu Thila is a two-in-one dive site featuring both a large and a small thila. The main reef starts around 8 meters deep, dropping steeply to 30 meters, with overhangs providing hiding spots for fish and shrimp. The smaller thila is covered in soft corals and teeming with life, such as leaf fish, scorpionfish, and mantis shrimp. Due to the depth, exploration of the smaller thila is recommended for advanced divers

Hulhuveli Kandu

Situated south of Hulhuveli Island, Hulhuveli Kandu is an exciting channel dive where pelagic fish thrive in the currents. Divers can cross the channel along the reef edge, encountering moray eels, shrimp, and possibly lobsters. Best conditions are during incoming currents, making it an ideal spot for sidemount diving, offering greater air supply freedom for adventurous channel crossings.

Madivaru Express

As the southernmost channel in Dhaalu Atoll, Madivaru Express offers thrilling drift dives. Depending on the current, divers can either start inside the channel or from the outside. Expect encounters with grey reef sharks, eagle rays, and tunas near the corners. The site also features a thila teeming with life at the southern entrance. A full channel crossing requires deeper diving, making it suitable for advanced divers.

Yuki Reef

Located on Udhdhoo Island's southern side, Yuki Reef is a perfect dive for all levels due to its shallow depth of 12 meters. The reef is covered in coral, with plenty of macro life to observe, making it ideal for night dives. Bigger marine creatures like crabs and octopus frequently appear after dark, adding to the excitement of the dive.

Shark Point

This channel south of Hulhudheli is famous for schooling barracudas, eagle rays, and stingrays. White tip and grey reef sharks can be seen patrolling the area. Divers typically start at the channel's corners and drift to the center, where marine life is most concentrated. This challenging dive is suitable for advanced divers, with Nitrox recommended for extended bottom time.

Coral Garden

Coral Garden is a classic channel dive, situated between Velavaru Tongue and Beru Thila. The site is lively with schools of fusiliers, jacks, and tunas, while whitetip reef sharks and eagle rays add to the spectacle. Although strong currents can make the dive challenging, experienced dive guides ensure safety and enjoyment in all conditions.

Azmee Corner

Azmee Corner offers a stunning wall dive featuring caves where stingrays often rest. Divers can spot masters of camouflage like scorpionfish hiding among the corals. Moray eels frequently peek from their crevices, and clownfish pose for photos. The site transforms during night dives, with corals coming to life, providing an unforgettable underwater experience.

Anemone City

Anemone City showcases vast colonies of anemones on one side of the giri, while the other is home to moray eels like yellow-margin and giant morays. An overhang adorned with black corals shelters longnose hawkfish, offering a challenge for photographers. Nudibranchs, leaf fish, and various gobies make this site a treasure trove for marine life enthusiasts.

Eves Thila

The round thila at Ewes Thila is topped with large table corals and dancing fusiliers, creating a mesmerizing scene. The steep reef features octopuses, lionfish, and even a pink frogfish for keen-eyed divers. Caves at 20 meters are adorned with black corals, hosting longnose hawkfish. White tip reef sharks and turtles are also common visitors, adding to the dive's allure.

Manta Point

Manta Point is a breathtaking dive site featuring two long reefs and a channel that leads directly to a manta ray cleaning station. The site’s diverse underwater landscape ranges from shallow depths of 5-12 meters, dropping off to over 30 meters. Outgoing currents bring in plankton, attracting graceful manta rays that glide through the water, creating an unforgettable spectacle. In addition to mantas, divers can encounter colorful corals, playful shrimp, schools of eagle rays, white-tip reef sharks, and even the occasional turtle, making this a truly magical diving experience.

Beru Thila

Located within the vast channel of Velavaru Island, Beru Thila is an excellent dive for spotting larger marine life. White-tip reef sharks elegantly swim in the currents, while Napoleon wrasses and tunas glide along the reef's edge. If you’re lucky, a curious school of batfish may approach, intrigued by the divers' bubbles. Depending on the conditions, divers can either explore the outer reef, which plunges into deeper waters, or stay closer to the gently sloping inner reef, where stingrays can often be seen resting peacefully.

Alika Reef

Located north of Sun Aqua Iruveli, Alika Reef offers classic Maldivian diving with drifting currents, ideal for all levels. Swim among schools of fusiliers and snappers, and keep an eye out for turtles, moray eels, scorpionfish, nudibranchs, and octopus.
